Ruhama - TV Ad Campaign

Ruhama - TV ad campaign
Ruhama is a Dublin-based Non-Government Organisation which works with women involved in prostitution. Funding was provided by the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform under the National Women’s Strategy to assist Ruhama to launch a TV advertising campaign aimed at men who solicit sex from victims of trafficking in Ireland.

Under Section 5 of the Criminal Law (Human Trafficking) Act 2008 it is an offence for a person to solicit for prostitution a person who he/she knows or has reasonable grounds for believing is a trafficked person. A person (other than the trafficked person) who accepts or agrees to accept payment or other benefit from a person for this purpose also commits an offence. The penalty for these offences can be up to five years imprisonment and an unlimited fine or both on conviction on indictment.
