Annual Report of Trafficking in Human Beings in Ireland for 2011
The Annual Report of Trafficking in Human Beings in Ireland for 2011, which covers the period between January and December 2011, is the third such annual report to be produced by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Department of Justice and Equality. The 2011 Report includes information concerning alleged victims of human trafficking reported to An Garda Síochána and NGOs in addition to information regarding the criminal justice response to human trafficking.

In order to provide reliable and useful data on the nature and extent of trafficking on an on-going basis the AHTU implemented a data strategy based on systems being developed at EU level. The goal of this strategy is to collect information on cases of possible/suspected trafficking by means of a standardised template from a variety of different sources (including NGOs, Government Agencies, Garda Síochána, etc) having regard to the definition of trafficking as contained with in the 2008 Criminal Law (Human Trafficking) Act.
2010 Annual Report
The Annual Report of Trafficking in Human Beings in Ireland for 2010 is the second such report to be produced by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Department of Justice and Equality. The 2010 Annual Report provides an extensive overview of human trafficking as it occurred in Ireland in 2010 and the State’s response in this regard. Information contained in the report was provided by a number of different sources which included An Garda Síochána, the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) of the Department of Justice and Equality and several non-governmental organisations.

2009 Summary Statistical Report
A Summary Statistical Report was published for 2009. The report was completed on the basis of information provided by the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB), Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS) and a number of NGOs using a standardised template having regard to the definition of trafficking as is outlined in the 2008 Act. Based on the information gathered for the report, 66 allegations of suspected trafficking were made to GNIB in 2009, 17 of which were minors, of the 66 potential and suspected victims of trafficking 40 were in the asylum process,15 required an immigration permission, 5 were minors in the care of the HSE, 4 were EU citizens and did not require permission to remain in the State and 2 voluntarily left the State.
